Services, maintains and repairs food service equipment and refrigeration related equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications.

  • Arrives at job site at scheduled time and location as dispatched.
  • Discusses system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that repairs corrected malfunctions; confers with customers or users to assess problems.
  • Recommends, develops, or performs preventive or general maintenance procedures, such as cleaning, power-washing, or vacuuming equipment, oiling parts, or changing filters; advise others on issues related to repairs, installation, or equipment design.
  • Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in commercial food service equipment and refrigeration systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
  • Repairs or services ventilating, food service equipment and refrigeration systems to improve efficiency, such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts, or refilling non-toxic refrigerants.
  • Repairs or replaces defective equipment, components, or wiring; services systems or components; repairs or replaces worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
  • Tests pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution; repairs pipes to stop leaking.
  • Tests electrical circuits or components for continuity, using electrical test equipment; tests electrical circuits or components for proper functioning.
  • Tests automatic, programmable thermostats in commercial buildings to minimize energy usage for heating or cooling.
  • Inspects and tests systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions; inspect systems to determine if they are operating properly.
  • Adjusts system controls to settings recommended by manufacturer to balance system; adjusts equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Measures, cuts, threads, or bends pipe or tubing, using pipe fitter’s tools; measures distances and dimensions; cuts materials according to specifications or needs.
  • Wraps pipes, securing insulation in place with cement or wire bands; installs insulation in equipment or structures.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications and diagrams.
  • Obtains replacement parts; fabricates equipment parts for the purpose of meeting specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts.
  • Properly completes all paperwork required for each job.
  • Operates company vehicle; maintains cleanliness of assigned company vehicle.
  • Promptly reports problems with company tools or vehicle.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by manager.
  • Ability to service commercial refrigeration systems for reach in equipment, walk in refrigeration systems, & commercial ice machines.
  • Ability to service commercial kitchen exhaust and make-up air systems
  • Ability to service commercial dish machines
  • Ability to service food service equipment such as: fryers, ovens, grills, & broilers
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, plans and schematics.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools, welding and cutting equipment, and ability to operate correctly and safely.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of company practices, procedures, machines, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting technique.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply complex information.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interface professionally with customers.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Ability to safety operate vehicle.

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Trade School degree or certificate preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in HVAC/R installation and service.
  • EPA Certification
  • Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.
  • Will be required to talk, hear, and see. Vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and ability to differentiate between colors.
  • Will be required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch; sill be required to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Regular lifting and moving of up to 50lbs.; occasional lifting of items weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders and work on scaffolding.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments
  • Travel is required within service area.
  • Uncontrolled working environments include job sites in various phases of construction, residential and commercial settings, customer homes, highways and roadways while operating company vehicles.
  • Controlled working environments include company headquarters.
  • Will be required to work outdoors and in unfinished construction settings; will be exposed to various weather conditions.
  • May be exposed to unpleasant sights and smells.
  • Safety equipment such as hard hats, protective eye glasses and gloves may be required in certain work settings.
